About the Founder.
Hi, I’m Adya Sharma.
I am a 16-year-old student and competitive swimmer at Suncity School. My life has been defined by the discipline of the pool and the drive to excel. Beyond the stroke, I am committed to ensuring that every young athlete has the dignity and support they need to pursue their passion without barriers.
Growing up in the competitive swimming circuits of Delhi NCR, I witnessed a silent struggle. Systemic hygiene failures and a lack of open dialogue around menstruation were more than just inconveniences—they were barriers forcing girls to opt-out of their athletic dreams.
I saw teammates missing critical practice sessions not because they were tired, but because the facilities failed to respect their basic physiological needs.
The pools we call home were often ill-equipped with basic hygiene infrastructure, and the culture remained steeped in whispers rather than action. Against the Current was born from the necessity to change this
narrative.
